Kites & Bites – March 6, 2022, 4:00 - 6:30 p.m. – Pelham City Park
March winds create perfect conditions for flying a kite and what better place to do so than Pelham City Park. On Sunday, March 6, Pelham Parks and Recreation will host the very first Kites and Bites from 4:00 – 6:30 p.m. The event is free, and organizers want to encourage local families to come out and enjoy a day in our beautiful city park.
“Pelham Parks and Recreation wants to bring new opportunities for families to enjoy being together outside and meeting new friends. Pelham City Park is a great park and we want the entire community to come out and enjoy it,” said Alicia Walters, Assistant Director.
Flying kites is a perfect family activity that people of all ages can enjoy. You are encouraged to bring a kite and spend the afternoon flying them in a relaxed atmosphere. “This is a more passive special event. Folks can bring a blanket and just enjoy the music and the food trucks. Others can try something new and teach their little ones to fly a kite. You can enjoy the park and festivities at your own pace. There is no cost to come out and enjoy being outside,” explained Walters.
Birmingham-based singer/songwriter, Erica Ryleigh will perform at Kites and Bites. Best known for her country sound with a hint of “indie twang”, Erica puts on a show you don’t want to miss.
Food trucks will be available, and we’ll have a complete list at a later date. The children will enjoy a craft activity with help from the Pelham High School Key Club.
Remember to bring your kites, chairs, and blankets and enjoy a laid-back March afternoon. Well-mannered, leashed dogs are welcome.
