1. When should I change my smoke detectors?: We recommend that you change the batteries in your smoke detectors twice a year. The easiest way to remember is to change them when Daylight Savings Time begins and ends.

2. Is it permissible to visit a Pelham Fire Station?: Yes. We ask that you come by during normal business hours 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
If you are bringing a group, we ask that you call us at 205-620-6500 to schedule a time so that we are prepared for your visit.

3. When I dial 911 from a phone in Pelham, who answers my call?: When you dial 911 from any residence located in the city limits of Pelham, your call is routed to a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) located in the police department at Pelham City Hall. A dispatcher that is an employee of the City of Pelham then processes your call.

4. Can I have my blood pressure checked at a Pelham Fire Station?: Yes, personnel at any of the five fire stations will be glad to check your blood pressure during normal business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can contact us at 205-620-6500 for more information.
